I don't mean the mechanics of a car or how to built it. or mechanic's way of thinking. I mean thinkers like robert boyle, rene descarts, sir Isaac newton, Thomas hobbes, sir francis bacon, and so forth.

Lets discuss there philosophies here. Do, you agree the universe can be explained like a clock? Do you believe mechanical philosophy is right? why or why not? Is there a person who you agree with more? Do you believe like bacon that we should collect facts in order to come to the truth or do you believe like Descartes that you are wasting your time, and there is literally no point in doing such things.

Discuss, and think

I am an engineer, and so I have no understanding of why you would not want to look at facts before arriving at a conclusion.
Bear in mind that statistics are not facts in their entirety, not without understanding all the controlling factors and variables involved.
Newton had a pre-Einstein understanding of the universe and physics, and so while not entirely wrong, he certainly had no understanding of atomic theory, the theory of relativity and so on. I realize in some circles it's become en vogue to resurrect 19th-century thinkers as some sort of pinnacle, but I believe that is mistaken. It is just as mistaken, in fact, as are the new relativists who pretend that facts don't matter.
I don't know Bacon, and only know of Newton in regards to the sciences. For his time, he was an innovator. But to stick with his ideas is just as valuable as sticking with that 386 computer from 1991 that everybody raved about. It's simply missing a lot, compared to what we have now.

I agree with Hobbes' view of the human body as an organic machine. No soul. We get old, require more and more upkeep, and eventually break down and conk like any man-made device.
